    Proper Lifting

Back On Track advises Proper Lifting Techniques:

  • Avoid lifting in the first place.

  • Use dollies or lifts as aids if possible.

  • Don't be too proud to ask for help.

  • When lifting with another person, give verbal instructions clearly - say: "lift", "walk" or "unload".

    1. Keep load as close as possible to the body.
    2. Keep back straight.
    3. Spread feet for good balance.
    4. Tighten stomach muscles and buttocks.
    5. Lift with your legs, not with your back!

Do Not:

  • Twist while lifting (move legs instead).

  • Lift above shoulders or below waist.
